Ruth Moufang Lectures 2022 (2nd lecture)
November 10, 2022 at 11:40 – 12:40 CET
Cancelled: postponed to a later date, tba
The Ruth Moufang Lectures will have their second iteration on November 9th and 10th, 2022 in Darmstadt. We are happy to announce that our speaker will be Sarah Zerbes (ETH Zürich). The lectures will circle around the BSD conjecture and Euler systems.
- 2nd lecture: Euler systems: what they are and where to find them
Abstract:
Euler systems are one of the powerful tools for attacking the Bloch--Kato and Birch--Swinnerton-Dyer conjectures. I will sketch the construction of the Euler system attached to Rankin--Selberg convolutions of modular forms (joint work with Kings, Lei and Loeffler), which was motivated by the Rankin--Selberg integral formula.
Lectures 2 and 3 are aimed at mathematicians with a background in number theory.
